Dr. Yu Xiao, Co-founder of Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue (TGYD). He obtained a Ph. D. in social sciences from Tsinghua University (2021), He once served as the Founding President of the Student Association of the Belt and Road Initiative (SABRI, 2018), now the world's first and largest major youth organization focusing on the great global cooperation initiative. For his efforts, he has been awarded the Tsinghua Prize for the Person of the Year (2019),
Currently, he is Associate Professor, the Board Director and Executive Secretary-general of the Institute of Digital Economy and Artificial Systems (IDEAS), a New R&D institution of Xiamen University, under the framework of the BRICS Partnership of New Industrial Revolution, which is committed to creating more equal and inclusive digital cooperation opportunities among emerging economies; At the same time, he is the Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Key Lab of Digital Development, which is committed to providing solutions in the fields of digital transformation of traditional industries, rural revitalization and urban governance in the west of China. He hopes to explore a feasible path to bridge the digital gap and achieve digital inclusion both in the global & local digitalization process. He also developed the largest archeological dataset for quantitative & comparative studies on the civilizations and states.
He is the visiting scholar of the University of Hongkong, Moscow State University, & Sciences Po Paris, and adjunct researcher at the Research Center of Technological Innovation in Tsinghua University, and AI Institute in Xiamen University. His research interests include the Digital Development & Transformation; Ethics & Governance of Technology; Comparative Studies on Civilizations & History. His publications include several books, and more than 20 papers in top Chinese & English journals such as E-government, Urban Planning, Chinese Culture, Knowledge-Based System, Neurocomputing, & AI Ethics. He is managing editor of AI & Innovations, and associate editor of International journal of innovation studies.
