
Youth represent the future of both our nation and the world, serving as the primary force behind global development and the creation of a better world. In this era of interconnectedness and shared global destiny, national development relies on youth in China to expand their international perspectives and showcase the essence of the Nation. Global governance anticipates improved dialogue and communication among students from China and abroad, contributing their youthful wisdom. The future of the world calls for young individuals from all over the world to deepen mutual understanding and collaborate to create a brighter future.
To further highlight the representation of youth from China in this new era and to establish a platform for international youth to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen friendships, Tsinghua University is hosting the "Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue." Over 60 youth leaders and representatives from more than 30 countries and regions will participate in "practice + dialogue" to explore China in depth and discuss global issues.

Event Theme
Guided by the mission "Empowering the Youth of Tomorrow, Shaping the Future for the Youth," this year's event presents the theme "United Youth, Shared Future." From August 20-28, youth representatives will engage in social practices across various locations in China, including Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Beijing. They will then convene at Tsinghua University for dialogue and discussion on August 29-30.
The dialogue is divided into three sub-themes: Civilizational Innovation, Civilizational Development, and Civilizational Mutual Learning. Discussions will cover topics such as Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, and Cultural Dialogue and Exchange. Parallel dialogue events will also take place at Astana International University in Kazakhstan and Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia.
Event Guests
Speeches at the opening ceremony will be delivered by Tsinghua University President Wang Xiqin, UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chatterjee, and former Deputy Director-General of UNESCO and Co-Chair of the China-Africa Leadership Development Center at Tsinghua University, Getachew Engida.
Leaders from the parallel dialogue co-organizers, Astana International University in Kazakhstan and Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia, as well as diplomats from the embassies of Kazakhstan and Indonesia in China, will also attend the opening ceremony.
During the three thematic dialogues, renowned experts will deliver keynote speeches on Civilizational Innovation, Civilizational Development, and Civilizational Mutual Learning. These experts include:

Representatives of the Youth Dialogue
Over 60 youth leaders and representatives from more than 30 countries and regions around the world will participate in the practice and dialogue discussions. These participants include youth leaders from multilateral organizations such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), the G20, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and ASEAN. Additionally, youth officials from various national government departments will be present, along with outstanding youth representatives from renowned universities such as Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Pennsylvania, and HEC Paris.
Practice Schedule
From August 20 to August 23, youth representatives from China and abroad will gather in Shenzhen, exploring on themes such as innovation and entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and mutual learning, and the digital economy and innovation. They will visit several locations for their practice activities, including Shenzhen Bay Startup Plaza, China Merchants Group Historical Museum, Longhua Urban Living Room, and the Meituan Big Data Operations Center.
From August 24 to August 26, youth representatives from China and abroad will gather in Chengdu and Deyang, exploring on themes such as sustainable high-quality development, cultural heritage and mutual learning, and biodiversity protection. They will visit various locations for their practice activities, including the Tianfu New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, Sichuan Tsinghua Energy Internet Research Institute, Chengdu High-Quality Development Research Institute, Sichuan Digital Development Research Center, Sichuan Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Association, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and the Sanxingdui Museum. Additionally, they will participate in the opening ceremony of the World Clean Energy Equipment Conference.
From August 27 to August 28, youth representatives from China and abroad will be in Beijing, exploring on the theme of civilizational mutual learning. They will visit various locations for their practice activities, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the Palace Museum, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Shougang Winter Olympic Park.

The opening ceremony of the "Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue" will be held on the afternoon of August 29 in the Mengminwei Multifunctional Hall. The three thematic dialogues and the closing ceremony will take place on the afternoon of August 30 in the same venue. Faculty and students from all departments are welcome to register for on-site participation. Each session is limited to 50 participants, and registration will close once the limit is reached. Interested participants are requested to click "Read More" and fill out the questionnaire before 24:00 on August 27, 2023.
