主讲人简介

赵家芳（Sophie Chao）博士是悉尼大学人类学系的“年轻研究发现大奖”（Discovery Early Career Researcher Award）研究员和讲师。她的研究关注太平洋地区的土著性、生态、资本主义、健康和公正的交叉。她著有专著《在棕榈的阴影下：西巴布亚的多物种生成》，并担任《多物种正义的承诺》的联合主编。

Dr Sophie Chao is Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) Fellow and Lecturer in the Discipline of Anthropology at the University of Sydney. Her research investigates the intersections of Indigeneity, ecology, capitalism, health, and justice in the Pacific. Chao is author of In the Shadow of the Palms: More-Than-Human Becomings in West Papua and co-editor of The Promise of Multispecies Justice.

讲座简介

2008年以来，印度尼西亚西巴布亚省的原住民马林德人（Marind）超过100万公顷的土地和森林被国家和企业转成单一作物油棕种植园。国家的粮食安全政策和区域经济发展目标驱动了地景的巨变。然而在当地，这些油棕园正对马林德人获取其深具文化价值的森林食物、营养健康和食物主权造成了毁灭性影响。在这次研讨会上，赵家芳博士将基于她在西巴布亚村庄进行的21个月的人类学田野调察，讨论原住民马林德人是如何体验、概念化和质疑产业种植项目对传统森林食物方式的不利影响。她将重点考察居住在发展中世界采掘资源边疆的原住民对饥饿（kelaparan）的表达，帮助我们理解食物、社会性、环境和正义之间的关系。

Since 2008, Indigenous Marind communities in the Indonesian province of West Papua have seen over one million hectares of their lands and forests converted to monocrop oil palm plantations by state and corporate actors. These industrial landscape transformations are driven by national food security policies and regional economic development objectives. On the ground, however, they are radically undermining Marind’s access to culturally valued forest foods, as well as their nutritional health and food sovereignty. In this seminar, Dr Chao will draw on twenty-one months of ethnographic fieldwork conducted in rural West Papua to examine how Indigenous Marind communities experience, conceptualize, and contest the adverse impacts of industrial plantation projects on their traditional forest foodways. In particular, she will consider how Indigenous idioms of hunger (kelaparan) can help us understand the relationship between food, sociality, environment, and justice, as it is articulated by Indigenous people inhabiting extractive resource frontiers of the developing world.
