We all knew it from the start- that one year will go by really quickly. As our cohort nears into the final parts of our year in Beijing, the nostalgia has begun as we think back on our time and memories here. Over the past few weeks, I am thankful to have had the chance to meet some of the scholars from the next incoming class and I must say I am impressed by your zeal and excitement and also a sense of connectedness even though our community is only beginning to grow. A couple of you have asked a lot of questions about how to make the most of your time in the coming year and the writer in me has decided to pen down some of the discussions that we had. The following piece details a few of the learnings that came from some of those discussions we had. Disclaimer that this only represents my own synthesis and reflections and that this is not meant to be prescriptive but rather to serve as lens and frames to think about.As with all things in life there is never one single template, for it’s up to each of us to thread the path most suited for us. With that in mind, here comes 5 little nuggets of reflection.

The Asian Universities Alliance Founding Assembly and the first AUA Summit were held in Beijing on April 29th. Vice-Premier Liu Yandong attended the summit and delivered the keynote speech.

Tsinghua PBCSF Global Academic Leaders Forum themed on “New Impetus to Global Growth” was held recently at the Reception Hall at the Main Building, Tsinghua University. Nicholas Stern, IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government at London School of Economics, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, President of the British Academy and Former Chief Economist at the World Bank, and Dr. Hans-Paul Bürkner, Boston Consulting Group Global Chairman, attended and spoke at the Forum. Zhu Min, Head of Tsinghua University National Institute of Financial Research and Former Deputy Managing Director of IMF, hosted the Forum.

More than 100 prestigious scholars, entrepreneurs and government officials from home and abroad were invited to Tsinghua University to conduct an in-depth discussion on promoting low carbon development from June 2nd to June 3rd.

March 24, 2017

On February 22, under the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian President Sergio Mattarella, the President of Tsinghua University Qiu Yong and the President of the Politecnico di Milano Ferruccio Resta signed the agreement, in the Great Hall of the People, for collaboration to establish the Sino-Italian Design Innovation Hub in Milan. It will be the first education and research base set up by Tsinghua University in Europe, indicating the comprehensive implementation of Tsinghua University’s global strategy.

Students around the world are invited to come to Tsinghua University this summer!

Tsinghua launched an initiative on December 6, the China-UK Association for Humanities in Higher Education, bringing together 12 Chinese and UK universities.

The attraction of China and Chinese universities to international experts has increased with growing support from both government and universities.

Promising new students from across the world often seek adventure and the chance to redefine themselves in new surroundings and different cultures.

Education is a never-ending process, and in the words of Stephen Schwarzman, “In the 21st Century, China is no longer an elective course.”

News | Tsinghua: 3rd in worldwide employability

Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University, visited Indonesia during Nov. 9-10 along with Vice-President Yang Bin. During the visit, President Qiu reached an agreement with the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia and the university will work together to enhance cultural and educational exchanges between various economic sectors and industries.
