High Growth BRI Tech Hubs-Chinese 2019 Flows
About the event Mr Tillman, through his firm Grisons Peak and its related Chinese macro research website: www.chinainvestmentresearch.org track Chinese investment flows into circa 65 tech hubs mostly in BRI countries. Mr Tillman plans to present on 2019 Chinese tech investments into tech hubs Southeast Asia (10 hubs), Central Asia (5 hubs), Middle East (10 hubs) and Africa (10 hubs). The format is designed to be interactive and from a practical perspective (Mr Tillman actually advises on deals in several of these hubs) to engender Q&A from students interested in these regions. While the slides will not be distributed, students will be permitted to screen shot the various slides which are presented. Please note in advance that this presentation is focused on commercial issues only. About the speaker Henry Tillman has an international banking career of over 30 years. The initial decade was spent based in New York with major investment banks (including DLJ, Merrill Lynch and CSFB), focused mostly on advising on US organisations on M&A and capital raising. Since 1992, he has been based in London, including a senior management role at Barclays Group, with a focus on Europe and Southeast Asia and at ABN AMRO, where he was a Wholesale Banking Board Member, managing a global business with a focus on Emerging Markets, in particular Asia. Mr Tillman also previously served as a Non Executive Director of Wells Fargo Securities Europe (20112015). He was active in the Credit/Risk functions at all 3 major banks. In 2003, Mr Tillman founded Grisons Peak, a London based, Asian focused merchant bank/Chinese research organisation. In advisory, we have completed over €25 billion in advisory assignments since inception. The firm focusses on advising UK/European companies with unique technologies to partner with China based businesses in China and on Asian organisations interested in international expansion. In 2008, he founded China Outbound Investments (www.chinainvestmentresearch.org), which analyses all Chinese outbound activity including G2G agreements, Government related loans and M&A/equity investments globally. We begin tracking from the initial G2G discussions, follow through the financial and operational closes of each project and then attempt to update progress on the hundreds of BRI (and non BRI) projects we track quarterly. Our research has been cited by leading financial press including The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, China Daily, Australian Financial Review, Xinhua, Institutional Investor, Bloomberg, Reuters, Global Trade, IFR, The Sunday Times and several others. In non-print media, Mr Tillman has completed interviews with CNTV and CGTN in China, with Vietnamese television, with numerous Pakistan television stations and a podcast with The Financial Times.
