Carol
I interviewed Ms. Carol from the UK. Regarding the impact of the epidemic on life, Ms. Carol mentioned that travel restrictions prevent her daughter from going to school in the United States and business partners from visiting. But even so, Carol believes that we humans are very flexible. Yes, for example, her daughter can take classes remotely. China’s epidemic prevention and control is very good, and her own life is relatively normal, so she feels very lucky to live in this community in Shenzhen.
Carol believes that the Chinese government and communities are doing very well in terms of information transparency and sharing. They can quickly update the latest bilingual epidemic information on platforms such as WeChat. What impressed her the most during the epidemic was the understanding of the Chinese people and their ability to be very reasonable. The reason for cooperating well with the government’s epidemic prevention work and contrasting with Western individualism may be that people’s education and cultural influence are different. Carol said that we should not rigidly believe who is right and who is wrong, but should accept the strengths of both.
Finally, Ms. Carol believes that China should learn hygiene habits from other countries and people should maintain good personal hygiene habits. Of course, this should be a long-term process.

Today I interviewed Jack from Los Angeles, who has been living in China for more than 20 years and has participated in voluntary service activities for more than one year. He also volunteered in the community during the epidemic period, and in his opinion, China's epidemic prevention measures are pretty effective compared with the USA. He held the view that the United States and other Western countries should learn from the Chinese people's spirit of solidarity in fighting the epidemic. In addition, we also told about Chinese culture and traditions. Jack thought that China was the most beloved place!

I interviewed Mr. ‘Anonymous’ from Belgium today.
Q1 What is the impact of the epidemic on your life?
As for the impact of the epidemic on his life, Mr. ‘Anonymous’ told me that his business which involved face-to-face communication was significantly hindered before it was gradually transferred to the online mode. Apart from his business, he had been running a volunteer organization named ‘HOPE’ which stood for ‘help one person everyday’ for a year, so he decided to continue this work, offering free online sessions to the community members to help them stay connected with each other and lead a more colorful life. The sessions covered a wide range from yoga and ball games to Chinese corners and travelling experience sharing. He reckoned that although everything is hard at the beginning, they finally managed to build an even stronger community.
Q2 What has the community done during the epidemic?
When it came to the measures taken by the community, he mentioned that his volunteer organization worked with the community service center to offer effective and efficient communication with foreigners. Those French, English and Italian native speakers in his team helped translating pandemic prevention materials from the government and from the community.
Q3 What impressed you most during the epidemic?
He highly appreciated the impressive response speed of China’s government and the impressive unity of Chinese people, commenting that the efficient information dissemination and action taking here were really reassuring.
Q4 What other epidemic prevention measures do you think are worth learning from other countries except China?
Regarding epidemic prevention measures worth learning from in other countries, he smiled and sincerely remarked that China had done the best job ever and had provided a real example of qualified pandemic handling, which was inspiring for his motherland.
I interviewed ANN, who has lived in China for 14 years,
Q1 What is the impact of the epidemic on your life?
Speaking of the impact of the epidemic on people's lives, Ann said that almost all foreigners living in China were stucked. For example, she was stucked in Shanghai during the epidemic and lived with a friend of hers. They are generally not allowed to go out for more than an hour. If they want to,they need to provide specific reasons and destinations for going out. It has to be inconvenient for people who really need to go out.
Q2 What has the community done during the epidemic?
Ann said the community provided a thermometer and checked their temperature every day. The community epidemic prevention officers recorded what she did in her first week in Shanghai. The community also recorded how many people had been infected so far.
Q3 What impressed you most during the epidemic?
The Chinese government controled the epidemic. It was a really good thing for that hard time. The day she returned to Shenzhen from Shanghai, the staff checked her temperature record form and asked when she left China and whether she had a visa. After she submitted the relevant documents, she returned to Shenzhen successfully.
