Org. Setting and Reporting
The UNOOSA/UN-SPIDER Beijing Office internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension to a maximum of six months, subject to the needs of the office and availability of the intern. The expected starting date is as soon as possible.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Provide support to the team in organising the UN-SPIDER Conferences in Beijing. The conference will be held from 11-13 October 2023.
• Assist in making arrangements for the short training programme which will be held back to back with the UN-SPIDER Annual Conference from 8 -10 October 2023.
• Specific duties include download registration form, sort out registration list, prepare invitation letter, communicate with the participants on logistic and other issues and assist in facilitating visa application.
• Provide assistance in formatting the documents such as information note, agenda, background board, brochure, badges etc.
• Perform other tasks as necessary.

• Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.
Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
• Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above);
• Be computer literate in standard software applications;
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
