Led by Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee and Chairperson of the University Council, a delegation of 40 teachers and students from seven mainland universities arrived at Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport on November 27.
The delegation, invited by the Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, aims to foster friendship and understanding through academic and cultural exchanges during their nine-day, eight-night visit.
Among the group are Olympic champions Ma Long, a table tennis player with six Olympic gold medals from Beijing Sport University, and Yang Qian, the Tokyo Olympics shooting champion who is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree at Tsinghua University. Their presence has made the delegation’s visit highly anticipated. Upon arrival, the group received a warm welcome from various sectors in Taiwan.
On the first day, the delegation plans to visit Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girls High School in the afternoon, followed by a welcome banquet hosted by the Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation in the evening.
In the days ahead, the delegation will exchange ideas with teachers and students from six universities in Taiwan and explore attractions such as Sun Moon Lake, the Palace Museum in Taipei, and various historical and cultural landmarks.
