语言、历史和交流在全球胜任力发展中的作用

Language, history, communication: their role in global competence development

语言，是人际关系中不可或缺的工具，对于跨文化交流有着重要意义。语言使得我们得以理解不同民族的文化，为社会融合、世界和平发展与共存发挥着至关重要的作用。同时，正如其他人类活动一般，语言也是一把双刃剑，可能成为分裂、剥削和压迫的根源。为了帮助同学们提高对于语言的历史文化、沟通表达的理解和掌握，清华大学自动化系、机械系研究生分会联合清华大学研究生会、“清华说”语言文化交流协会、清华大学学生翻译协会邀请北京外国语大学拉丁语言文化中心Michele Ferrero教授为同学们进行专题分享。

Languages are necessary for human relations. They are also a tool to enhance effective cross-cultural exchanges. They enable us to understand our culture as well as that of other peoples. Languages play a crucial role in social integration, world development, peaceful coexistence. At the same time, languages, like any human activity, can be a source of division, exploitation, oppression.

本次讲座将涉及以下问题：

什么是语言？

语言作为声音和思想的结合；连接字母或字符、书写材料、历史发展；

地中海世界中的古希腊语、拉丁语（以及拉丁语的“政治”消失）；

西班牙语、法语、英语——帝国语言、汉语；

翻译的重要性、翻译理论、口译员和笔译员；

语言和国际关系；

当今的拉丁语术语、条约和交易、国际机构及其语言；

语言和情感，文字的力量，诗歌，悲剧，史诗，修辞，演讲；

语言和交流；

非语言交流：手势、沉默、时机等；

数字工具和人为因素、数字翻译、谷歌等；

This talk will cover the following aspects:

Ø Languages as union of sounds and ideas; connection alphabet, or characters, writing material, historical development

Ø Ancient Greek in Mediterranean world, Latin (and the “political” disappearance of Latin)

Ø Spanish,French, English-languages of empires, Chinese

Ø The importance of Translations, theory of translation, interpreters and translators

ØLanguages and international relations

ØLatin terminology today, Treaties and deals, International institutions and their languages

Ø Languages and emotions, the power of words, Poetry, Tragedy, Epic, Rhetoric, speeches

Ø Languages and communications

Ø Nonverbal communication: gestures, silence, timing, etc

Dr. Michele Ferrero

Michele Ferrero教授，北京外国语大学拉丁研究中心“Latinitas Sinica”主任，国际中国文化研究院外国专家，罗马慈幼大学古典学院特邀教师。

Ferrero博士还在北京大学、首都师范大学、中国社会科学院、全国华人天主教神学院、香波教育学院、意大利大使馆拉丁语学校等地开设了拉丁语课程，并撰写了有关中国、汉学史、拉丁语和伦理学的书籍和文章。2011年6月，Ferrero博士在北外促成首届“中国高校拉丁语教学”会议。

Dr. Michele Ferrero is currently the Director of “Latinitas Sinica”, Centre for Latin Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU),Foreign Expert at the International Institute of Chinese Studies,invited teacher at the Faculty of Classics (Institutum Altioris Latinitatis) of the Salesian University in Rome.Dr. Ferrero held Latin classes also at Beijing University, Capital Normal University, the Chinese Academy of Social Science; the National Chinese Catholic Seminary; the Xiangbo Education Institute, the Italian Embassy School of Latin for Italian students.He wrote books and articles about China, History of Sinology, Latin and ethics. In June 2011, he promoted the first conference on “The teaching of Latin language in Chinese universities” at BFSU.

Dr.Alberto Bardi

Alberto Bardi，博士，清华大学科学史系助理教授，曾任哈佛大学研究机构 Dumbarton Oaks、耶路撒冷 Polonsky 学院的研究员，曾任教于耶路撒冷希伯来大学和柏林马普科学史研究所。

Dr.Alberto Bardi is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of the History of Science, Tsinghua University. He has been a fellow at the Harvard University research institute Dumbarton Oaks, at the Polonsky Academy in Jerusalem, with a teaching appointment at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
