Introduction
Professor EmiliosAvgouleas is the inaugural holder of the International Banking Law and FinanceChair at the University of Edinburgh and the founding director of the EdinburghLLM in International Banking Law and Finance. He is a Member of theStakeholder Group of the European Banking Authority (EBA) elected in the so-called'top-ranking' academics section. Emilios also serves as the director of the Edinburgh Center for CommercialLaw. Since September 2017 he is a visiting Research Professor at the Faculty of Law, University ofHong Kong. Emilios is an acknowledged international expert on public policy andfinancial reform, banking theory, banking and capital markets regulation, lawand finance, and global economic governance. He has given keynote lectures ininfluential public policy organizations such as the Bank of England, the BaselCommittee, the European Parliament, US Federal Reserve banks, and SingaporeMonetary Authority. Between 2008and 2017 he served, as a visiting professor, visiting professorial fellow, orsenior research scholar at YaleLaw School, Harvard Law School, National University of Singapore, Duke LawSchool, CUPL - China-Europe School of Law, and the Athens University ofEconomics & Business.
